On-line Presentation

Abstract

This IDC Tech Buyer presentation represents the data collected in IDC's 2018 IT and Operational Technology (OT) Convergence Survey (June 2018).

The research objectives are to study and uncover the motivations behind the decisions to implement IT and OT projects across the entire value chain of the oil and gas industry from upstream exploration and productions to downstream refining, distribution, and retail.

This presentation aims to provide a greater understanding about:

  • The driving factors for current and future IT/OT integration
  • Governance and organisational structures in the oil and gas industry
  • Common roadblocks that inhibit project success
  • Planning for adoption of 3rd Platform accelerators now and into the future

Key themes include IT/OT integration accelerating asset management initiatives through increased productivity, cost reductions, and legacy business process improvement.

"The Australian oil and gas industry has just completed its capital project construction and commissioning phase. The focus now turns to maximising asset performance through technology that delivers insight leading to increased uptime and availability. This ultimately results in an undeniable impact to the operating bottom-line," Emilie Ditton, AVP, IDC Asia/Pacific Energy Insights.
