IDC MarketScape: Asia/Pacific Threat Lifecycle Services 2018 Vendor Assessment
Using the IDC MarketScape model, IDC studied 17 organizations in 2017–2018 that offer threat lifecycle services in Asia/Pacific; of the participating companies, most already deliver services worldwide. The assessment reviews the organizations against a large set of parameters that define current market demands and expected buyer needs, such as comprehensiveness of service offerings, portfolio benefits, threat intelligence, incident response service-level agreements (SLAs), security analytics, market execution, cost competitiveness, and customer satisfaction. Through in-depth interviews with the threat lifecycle security services providers and their customers, IDC evaluated the vendors in the study and found that each provider possesses certain strengths and weaknesses when compared with a peer group.
"Breaches have become a daily occurrence, making it critical for security services providers to offer a lifecycle approach that includes services that help organizations prepare, respond, remediate, and recover to a healthy state, and to minimize the negative impact of breach and significantly enhance an organization's resilience. The emergence of the threat lifecycle services market is reflective of a major market shift in the overall security services market — from traditionally solution-focused, compliance-driven managed security services to threat-focused, intelligence-driven lifecycle security services," says Cathy Huang, senior research manager, IDC Asia/Pacific Security Services.
"Although the topic of breaches/incidents is a sensitive one, we were fortunate to gather a group of tech buyers' direct feedback on their people, process, and technology utilized to prepare for and respond to incidents, and SLAs met by their service provider surrounding incidents under non-disclosure agreements. It is safe to assume the Leaders, particularly those that have been rated high on the capabilities axis identified in this study, have all received great customer feedback, especially on the people aspect. Many customers appreciate high-caliber, seasoned security professionals that they have engaged for threat lifecycle services."
