By: Cathy Huang Associate Research Director, Services and Security, IDC Asia/Pacific, Pushkaraksh Shanbhag Sr. Research Manager, Sherrel Roche
Abstract
This IDC study highlights how the systems integration (SI) services market in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) (APEJ) is evolving as global and regional players utilize innovative strategies to maintain or grow their market share. The research document also provides key findings and conclusions from IDC's analysis of the top 10 SI services providers by market share for 2018 as tracked by IDC's Semiannual IT Services Tracker:
- Systems integrators are benefiting from the revival of SI services spending in 2018 by shifting their offerings heavily toward fast-growing areas, such as cloud, analytics, internet of things (IoT), customer experience, and digital services. In addition, large service providers are also continuing to employ inorganic routes to sustain growth and market share dominance.
- Competition continues to remain stiff in the APEJ SI services market. The top 10 APEJ SI services providers represented 35.5% of the overall market in 2018. Given the highly competitive market dynamics, the SIs are vying for high growth and bigger portion of the market share. Growth of digital services practices are helping the top 10 vendors to maintain their dominance in this market.
- Amid this tough competitive setting, Samsung SDS, Accenture, IBM, LG CNS, and SK Holdings have remained the largest players in the SI services market in 2018. Samsung SDS led all SI service providers at the regional level with a revenue of US$1.1 billion. Accenture seized the second spot with US$988.9 million in revenue, followed by IBM at the third place with a revenue of US$742.5 million.
Cathy Huang, associate research director, IDC Asia/Pacific Services Research Group, states "The fast-growing SIs in the APEJ region have demonstrated three important traits: greater use of analytics, intelligent automation, and AI-enabled integration platform; greater understanding of the customer needs and their customers' changing expectations; and broader capabilities and strong ecosystem partnerships."
