By: Celeste NarvaezProgram Manager, Daniel-Zoe JimenezAssociate Vice President, Digital Transformation (DX), Future Enterprise, and SMB

Abstract

This IDC Perspective features start-ups in the region that possess the traits of a Future Small and Medium-Sized Business (SMB). Disruption in the region generally comes from start-ups and unicorns and can be seen as the best examples SMBs can follow to merit their own success. There are notable organizations in the region that have accelerated their pace when it comes to digitalization and have set the gold standard for SMBs. These organizations are not just utilizing digital technologies but are using everything within their ecosystems to maximize their potential. As tech start-ups or digital natives, they have prioritized technology since their inception and have used this to their advantage to better engage customers, automate processes, and streamline operations.

"Start-ups that have been successful in the region can attribute this to their ability to find and address the gaps in their respective markets. Their disruptive nature comes from their ability to augment their presence, business, and capabilities using digital technologies. These organizations have reinvented the consumer value chain through nontraditional means to meet demand, delivering increased customer value and loyalty. Finally, these start-ups have also deepened their connection to their ecosystems through their ability to forge collaborations with both established organizations and other SMBs not just within their market but outside of it as well," says Celeste Narvaez, Senior Program Manager, Digital Transformation.
