By: Jing Bing ZhangResearch Director, IDC Worldwide Robotics, Vijay Sarathi GollapalliResearch Manager, Sahadev Kadri Ananda
This IDC Survey report provides data-based insights that will help both users and vendors to better understand the current situation and future trends related to the deployment of industrial robots in Southeast Asia discrete manufacturing.
This report is based on an analysis of Southeast Asia–specific data from IDC's Worldwide Robotics Survey, 2019. A total of 150 qualified organizations with at least 250 full-time employees were randomly selected from the Southeast Asia discrete manufacturing industry for this survey. These survey samples are evenly distributed into five countries (Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia) and two manufacturing value chains (engineering-oriented value chain and technology-oriented value chain).
"Southeast Asia is one of the key manufacturing hubs for electronics and automotive products and is an emerging robotics market in the world. Driven by the needs to improve efficiency, improve productivity, and to increase production yield, Southeast Asia manufacturing companies are eagerly embracing industrial robots," says Dr. Jing Bing Zhang, research director, Worldwide Robotics and Asia/Pacific Manufacturing Insights, IDC Asia/Pacific. "The survey also revealed a number of important faster-growing application areas over the next two years and so on," adds Zhang.
