On-line Presentation

Abstract

The Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) (APEJ) utilities sector is experiencing disruption but in varying degrees as the region has different market structures and drivers that, in turn, impact the priorities and the level of disruption each utility is facing. This IDC FutureScape covers the regional outlook of the utilities industry, along with the top 10 predictions and the planning horizon for the next five years.

Predictions are presented based on the complexity assessment, involved investments, and timeline projection in the APEJ region. Each prediction is not only providing the regional outlook supported by relevant examples but also attempting to explain the role of technologies as viable enablers.

"Utilities across the region are embracing transformation but in varying degrees, majorly governed by the diversified market structure. Companies need to plan their road map around technology-related investments, become open to the ecosystem to ignite innovation, and embrace the new business models to generate new revenue streams," says Jayesh Verma, research manager, IDC Energy Insights.
