On-line Presentation

Abstract

This IDC Survey explores the status of the gap in the demand for IT skills in Canadian organizations and current supply of those skills in Canadian labor market. As a result of this gap, organizations turned to externally sourcing IT staff through contracting out, onshore outsourcing, and offshore outsourcing. IDC estimates that the Canadian IT skills gap in 2018 was 47,000 full-time employees (FTEs). The IT skills gap in Canada continues to affect more organizations, with 96% of organizations say they have an IT skills gap in 2019. IDC provides a strategy framework to support organizations in addressing their long-term IT skills gap and their talent requirements.
