This IDC Survey presents results from IDC's 2018 European Enterprise Communications Survey related to areas telcos need to address to transform and grow their own businesses into the future — a Telco 2025 view. It examines the challenges companies are facing, their planned technology investments, the role telcos are playing in enterprises' cloud and data/analytics/artificial intelligence initiatives, and what organizations look for when selecting network providers.
The survey covered nine Western European countries (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the U.K.), six verticals (finance, manufacturing, public sector, retail/wholesale, business services, and transport), and six business size segments (50–99 employees; 100–249 employees; 250–499 employees; 500–999 employees; 1,000–4,999 employees; and 5,000 or more employees). Additional datasets and analyses are available upon request.
"There are real signs throughout this survey that companies are looking beyond some of the concerns that have hampered progress, in favor of getting on with transforming their IT and networks," said James Eibisch, research director, IDC European Telecoms and Networking. "This survey shows us where telcos can help in critical areas such as cloud, data/analytics, and network virtualization."
