By: Nino GiguashviliSenior Research Analyst

Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight examines the investment trends and plans of life sciences organizations in Europe related to Internet of Things (IoT)-enabled treatment monitoring and compliance support solutions. The study contains data from IDC's Global IoT Decision Maker Survey 2019 that pertained to pharmaceutical and biotech firms in Europe (n=160).

"Supporting compliance with medical treatment regimens is a prominent target for digital innovation in life sciences, and one of the fastest-growing areas of IoT deployments in the industry across Europe. Pharmaceutical and biotech firms in Europe are accelerating investments in IoT-enabled patient monitoring and medication adherence solutions to improve treatment compliance both within and beyond clinical trials, while fostering closer engagement with patients on a broader scale, improving patient experiences and treatment outcomes, and gaining new valuable insights for advancing drug development and discovery."
