This IDC Presentation was presented at the IDC DevOps Conference in September 2019 in London. It followed Jen Thomson's keynote: DevOps-Led Business Transformation.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly vital to DevOps success in the enterprise. Traditional developer teams simply can't deliver speed, accuracy, and agility using manual development methods when apps need to be built and released rapidly.
At the core, the DevOps mantra of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) needs both automation and AI to remove time-consuming effort and drive insights throughout the entire process. This way, activities such as design, development, testing, and delivery of applications are far more accurate, predictive, and aligned with customer expectations.
The terms AI and machine learning (ML) are often used interchangeably, where datasets are used to learn and improve DevOps outcomes. AI/ML can therefore be used to process data to inform development teams on where problems already exist, predict likely outcomes of changes to be made, and support new opportunities to innovate. Humans can then be raised up to do what they do best: designing, creating, and overseeing great applications and experiences for customers.
