Abstract

This IDC Perspective discusses the 2019 Workday Rising event in Milan on November 13 and 14, 2019. The event was the largest to date, hosting 3,000 attendees — including customers and partners — as the vendor positions itself to become the go-to vendor for large-scale digital transformation projects in the back office. Overall, Workday continues to make inroads in the highly competitive markets of enterprise applications, with acquisitions and boosted organic growth. Focusing on innovation, machine learning, and customer success is shaping the future strategy for the vendor as it becomes a powerful disruptor in the market. The hard work is not over, though, as Workday looks to maintain growth. This will translate to sustained focus on strategy and execution, as Workday becomes more international and moves into the medium-sized enterprise domain.
