Abstract

This IDC Survey analyzes German government IT solution adoption and 2020 investment plans in cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and more. It investigates the buying behavior of key decision makers in the German public sector. The analysis is based on 40 interviews conducted as part of the IDC European Tech and Industry Pulse Survey in 3Q19.

Survey findings include the following:

  • German government executives expect to increase their investments in digital technologies to deliver on their strategic goals of improved customer satisfaction and operational effectiveness while making their IT more innovative and agile.
  • German government executives plan to invest in emerging technologies such as IoT, AI, and blockchain to address practical business needs, such as using wearable cameras to make police officers' work more secure or applying blockchain to make identity management solutions more trusted.
