On-line Presentation

Abstract

The ways in which IT investment decisions in Europe are made are changing as organizations on the continent become increasingly digitally mature. The IDC European Tech and Industry Pulse Survey, 20192020, reveals which organizational departments and positions make IT-related investment decisions and identifies the major factors influencing IT and line-of-business (LOB) control over IT spending.

This IDC Survey document presents select survey results and includes information from the IDC Worldwide IT Spending Guide: Line of Business, H2 2018 dataset. The survey covered 2,793 companies with more than 10 employees across Europe (including western, central, and eastern Europe).

The verticals considered in the survey include:

  • Financial services (banking, insurance, and other finance services)
  • Manufacturing (discrete and process)
  • Healthcare
  • Telecom and media
  • Utilities and oil & gas
  • Retail and wholesale
  • Professional services
  • Transport and accommodation
  • Government and education

"LOB managers' influence on IT-related decision making in Europe is growing, particularly as their organizations' digital maturity increases. At the same time, synergies between LOBs and IT are enabling the creation of new digital customer experiences and products. The IT functions within companies are also transforming, creating a base for novel innovations in the process." — Research Manager Neli Vacheva, Customer Insights and Analytics, IDC Europe
