The AI car has become a reality in the past year, as automotive OEMs push toward autonomous vehicles by 2021. In the interim OEMS and their Tier 1 suppliers have added increasingly intelligent capabilities that rely on an artificial intelligence and machine learning core to enable things like auto-braking, hands-free operation on highways, optimized fuel consumption, and predictive service notification. IDC predicts that by 2019, 25% of model year vehicles will report their own health, request service calls, identify design improvements, and validate warranty claims. What are the technologies that will make this happen? We'll explore the opportunities and risks for automotive OEMs, their Tier 1 suppliers, and other ecosystem players as the AI car rolls off the production line and onto the roads.
