Abstract

This IDC study is a translation of the Japanese document IDC #JPJ41787817. It analyzes the Japan Internet of Things (IoT) security market and provides forecast for the period 2017 to 2021. Partnerships and ecosystems are important elements of growth in the IoT market. Currently, many vendors are entering the IoT market such as sensor and hardware vendors, software vendors, IoT platform vendors, connectivity providers, security product vendors, security services vendors, and so on. It is not possible for one single vendor to offer IoT solutions in an IoT market. This market requires participation from all vendors for the functioning of IoT ecosystem.

"IoT security product vendors should construct partner ecosystems not only within the security industry, but should also include IoT sensor and device vendors, IoT platform vendors, and so on, to develop a partner ecosystem beyond the security industry that ensures the provision of seamless IoT solutions and robust security solutions," says Tsuneo Tosaka, research manager, Software and Security, IDC Japan.
