Worldwide Services Market Shares, 2017: 2017 Services Vendor Results Reveal the Best Growth in a Decade
Abstract
This IDC study presents market shares for the worldwide services market for 2017, broken down into macromarkets (i.e., project-oriented services, managed services, and support services) and macroregion (i.e., Americas, EMEA, and Asia/Pacific).
"2017 saw a reasonably significant shake up in the ranking of the top 10 worldwide services vendors, except for the top 2 services vendors, IBM and Accenture, whose position remains unchanged in 2017 for the third consecutive year (Accenture overtook HP in 2015). Deloitte moved into the third position on top of strong services growth, but perhaps more so because Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) sold its enterprise services business to DXC. DXC moved into the fourth position as 2017 was the first full year of operation, and Fujitsu remained unchanged at the fifth position," says Chad Huston, research manager, Worldwide Services. "Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) moved from the sixth to the seventh position because of NTT DATA's rise to the sixth, which was mostly a result of NTT DATA's purchase of the Dell Services business in late 2016, though also somewhat because of TCS' more sluggish-than-usual services growth in 2017. PwC overtook Capgemini to reach the eighth position. Capgemini has now moved down successive positions each year since 2014 (sixth in 2014, seventh in 2015, eighth in 2016, and ninth in 2017). And last, Cognizant returned back to the top 10 after reaching it for the first time in 2015 but being pushed out temporarily in 2016."
