This IDC study provides a forecast for the worldwide telecom infrastructure market from 2018 to 2023, specifically for compute and storage platforms. IDC estimates this market — which consists of hardware and software compute and storage platforms (including software-defined storage and compute) — to be nearly $12.7 billion in 2018. Further, IDC estimates that this market will grow at a CAGR of 7.9% and cross $17 billion in 2023.
"Telecoms are the forefront of the innovation curve," said Ashish Nadkarni, group VP for IDC's Worldwide Infrastructure practice. "The shift to a software-defined infrastructure enables them to focus on innovation, drive operations costs down, and continue to differentiate based on the uniqueness of their products and services."
