Location-Based Services Software Platforms: A Critical Component to the Digitized Enterprise and the Future of Work
Abstract
This IDC study looks at LBS software platforms, a broad market for software that tracks the location and movement of employees (via personal devices or wearable technology), customers, physical assets, or other radio-enabled endpoints. LBS software platforms touch a wide range of use cases across many industries.
"Location awareness and tracking has always been a critical technology used widely across almost all industries in various scenarios and use cases," says Phil Hochmuth, program director, Enterprise Mobility, at IDC. "With the rise of connected smart workplaces and workspace IoT, location-based services software platforms are becoming an essential technology layer for enterprises to consider as location data and location awareness are becoming more integral not only to specific vertical use cases but to the future of work."
