TECH BUYER Nov 2018 - IDC Perspective - Doc # US44401918

Expanding the Life Science R&D RPA IDC TechBrief Horizon

By: Alan S. Louie, Ph.D.Research Director, Life Sciences

Abstract

This IDC Perspective is a supplement to a recently published IDC TechBrief on the use of robotic process automation (RPA) in life science R&D (see IDC TechBrief: Robotic Process Automation in the Life Sciences, IDC #US44374218, October 2018). In moving beyond the IDC TechBrief framework, this IDC Perspective highlights both the opportunities for RPA across the life science R&D life cycle and the specific efforts along the RPA path to adoption.

"As the life science industry seeks to reengage with AI technologies in its ongoing pursuit of improved operational efficiency and effectiveness, RPA is playing a transitional role by early delivery of measurable value through automation of well-established processes. Over time, the use of RPA is expected to grow and expand to deliver more complex platform capabilities, including the incorporation of more complex capabilities," said Alan S. Louie, research director, Life Sciences, IDC Health Insights.
