Worldwide Identity and Access Management Market Shares, 2018: Vendors Aligning and Combining Preparing for the Next Phase
By: Jay Bretzmann Program Director, Security Products, Frank Dickson Program Vice President, Cybersecurity Products
Abstract
This IDC study examines the market share of IAM vendors in 2018, market developments, and who shaped the year.
"The market continues to mature with the formal arrival of new technology standards like WebAuth, CTAP, and FIDO2, helping eliminate perennial phishing and man-in-the-middle (MITM) attacks," says Jay Bretzmann, research director for Security Products at IDC. "Critical momentum on this front was recently achieved with Microsoft's FIDO2 certification for Windows Hello. Now 800 million Windows 10 devices can more securely authenticate with web services applications, joining the billion possible Android devices and all those millions more using physical security keys. This is a password, and this is the Dodo."
