Abstract

This IDC Survey analyzes the selected results from IDC's Connected Health and Value-Based IT Investment Plans Survey, February 2019. The survey included 100 healthcare payers and 100 healthcare providers that identified care management services offered for patients and members for individuals in risk-based contracts, fee for service contracts, and for both risk-based and fee for service contracts. Surprisingly, there was little variation based on type contract or by payer or provider. Related technology investments planned for 2019 were also consistent between payers and providers.

"Among the somewhat surprising though encouraging results of this survey was the consistency with which payers and providers were managing patients in today's dual fee for service and risk-based environment. Providers appear to be catching up with payers in their investments in technology as well." — Cynthia Burghard, research director, IDC Health Insights
