The State of Fitness Trackers Within the Enterprise, 2018

By: Ramon T. LlamasResearch Director, Mobile Devices and AR/VR

On-line Presentation

This IDC Survey looks at enterprise adoption and usage of fitness trackers within the enterprise. We polled 369 IT buyers in the United States in April of 2019 to ask them which brands of fitness trackers they were using, how they acquired them, how they distributed them, whether they saw a reduction in healthcare costs since distributing fitness trackers and how much money they saved, and overall satisfaction with fitness tracker programs.

"Fitness trackers have become critical components of companies' corporate wellness programs, and our recent data indicates that satisfaction levels are high, healthcare-related cost savings are real, and that companies prefer to work directly with fitness tracker companies to provide devices to employees for little to no cost," says Ramon T. Llamas, research director with IDC's Wearables program. "Companies that have not deployed fitness trackers should consider the data in this document as a stepping-stone on how to get started, while companies that have already offered fitness trackers can gauge their results against others."
