This IDC study presents an outlook for the server DRAM DIMM market for the 2019–2023 period. The DRAM industry dynamics and the server workload changes are aggregated, analyzed, and applied to this long-term DIMM forecast in terms of units and DRAM content per DIMM.
"The server DIMM market continues unit growth even with weaker server demand and a new 16Gb-supported architecture appears. IDC forecasts the DIMM market will have brief decline in 2020 and maintain low single-digit growth to the end of the forecast period. Rich-configured memory for various workloads, continuous appearance of new processor architectures, and low DRAM pricing after strong DRAM market correction will enable such stable growth," said Soo-Kyoum Kim, associate vice president, IDC's Semiconductor Research Program.
