Enterprise Pressure on Managed SPs to Build a Business Model of Cloud Services Mimicking that of Hyperscalers and SaaS Providers
By: David Tapper Program Vice President, Outsourcing and Managed Cloud Services
Abstract
This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights results from the following question posed to 1,500 respondents with 1,000+ employees across 6 countries and several major industries, as part of IDC's 2019 Managed CloudView Survey: Indicate if you believe that providers of managed cloud services need to own and manage their own cloud platforms (private and/or public) on behalf of customers to be successful and if your company/organization would want a provider of managed cloud services to offer software-as-a-service (SaaS) capabilities and functionality. This IDC Survey Spotlight then assesses the impact of these enterprise requirements involving the need for managed service providers (SPs) to own their own clouds and provision SaaS capabilities, which would result in new sets of opportunities though with some strategic challenges. This document should be used in conjunction with the analysis from Managed CloudView 2019: Executive Summary (IDC #US45601719, October 2019).
