This IDC study presents a five-year forecast for the worldwide hearables market.
"Hearables took several major steps forward in 2019, with the release of two new AirPods from Apple as well as more audio vendors introducing smart capabilities into their earwear," says Ramon T. Llamas, research director for IDC's Wearables team. "Apple's long-awaited refresh to the company's immensely popular AirPods resulted in not just one but two different models for customers to purchase. Apple was not alone, as other consumer electronics vendors launched their own devices and numerous audio earwear makers became increasingly active in the space. Couple this with a range of form factors and prices along with new features being added, hearables have experienced a strong year of breakout growth. This sets a strong foundation for the hearables market to grow at a strong clip for the next several years."
