This IDC study considers an emerging kind of architecture and product suite for payers, the data platform.
The study discusses the data platform's potential impact on the enterprise, which provides a clearinghouse capability for defining, cataloging, accessing, and governing data in multiple data sources. It considers the importance, proper definition, organizational impact, and how payers can adopt the technology.
"This emerging architecture and enabling technology permits payers to leverage data where it lives, to combine data where it only makes sense to do so, to understand the meaning of data, and to generate better analyses and, in some cases, data-driven operations based on the data in the platform," says Jeff Rivkin, research director for Payer IT Strategies at IDC Health Insights. "The platform mindset facilitates structures that enable interoperability, accelerate the time to insight, empower more comprehensive business decisions, and provide legitimate data to support artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) operations; therefore, a more agile enterprise."
