Oracle Food and Beverage Connect 2020: Focusing on the Roots of Future-Ready Business, Oracle Asks Restaurants to "Grow with Us"

By: Dorothy CreamerSenior Research Analyst, Hospitality and Travel Digital Transformation Strategies

Abstract

This IDC Perspective shares key takeaways from the second annual Oracle Food and Beverage Connect 2020, which took place on March 2–4 at the InterContinental Miami. The gathering of 400+ restaurant operators and technology partners offered access to leadership of the Oracle Food and Beverage (F&B) global business unit, now in its second year. The two-day program showcased new product announcements and high-level strategy plus hands-on activities, panel discussions, and interactive "huddles" for peer-to-peer tactical conversations.

Dorothy Creamer, senior research analyst, Hospitality & Travel Digital Transformation Strategies at IDC, reports, "Oracle F&B is striving to inject a start-up energy to the legacy technology of Oracle and MICROS. With sweeping system refreshes and new partnerships, Oracle seeks to offer restaurant operators a complete ecosystem that is flexible, secure, and simple. To remain competitive in today's marketplace, restaurants need to engage solutions that offer omni-channel customer engagement, provide real-time and actionable insights, and can be easily customized. A nimble, secure infrastructure will be vital as restaurants will have to provide the personalization and autonomy demanded by diners as service preferences across segments evolve."
