2019年9月，中共中央、国务院印发了作为顶层设计的《交通强国建设纲要》，在总体要求、指导思想、发展目标及保障措施等领域提出了全面而完善的规划纲要，开启了新时代交通发展新篇章。同时，在《数字交通发展规划纲要》的指导下，提出了着眼提升和实现全生命周期的数字化升级策略。2020年以来，“新基建”政策的提出，进一步驱动了以5G、人工智能、工业互联网、物联网为代表的数字基础设施建设浪潮。交通行业数字化转型市场也迎来了互联网厂商积极参与的生态多样化发展时期，新IT技术的发展也得到了广泛应用。
IDC政府行业与智慧城市研究组研究经理詹墨磊表示：“交通行业未来将以公众出行精准服务为基础，向多栖重点行业应用拓展，例如安防、旅游等，配合辅助安全驾驶等功能，以应用场景为切入点发展。大数据平台与云平台作为交通行业的数字基础，将从路侧设施、系统平台层面重点打造以车辆信息为主的V2X数据应用服务平台、以交管运行信息为主的公安交管赋能平台、以路网交通诊断为主的路况诊断与信息发布平台以及其他车辆使用服务平台，实现不同平台间的信息交互，推动行业车辆管理、交通出行服务的全面升级，形成跨行业、跨平台、跨网络信息交互及应用的综合技术解决方案。未来，云边协同能力的加强，将进一步提升终端侧计算能力，降低时延，增加可靠性，助力服务平台和路侧设备、车辆等实现交互，推动车辆调度、交通监测、违法执法等功能的全面数字化转型。”
